چکیده
Background: Pericardial window (PW) is a technique that allows the passage of fluid from pericardial to pleural cavity reduce postoperative effusion. The purpose this study was evaluate effectiveness in decreasing effusions after cardiac surgery.
Methods: included 400 adult patients who underwent surgery 2017 2020. Patients were randomly assigned into two groups; group 200 posterior pericardiotomy, and control did not undergo procedure.
 Results: Preoperative data comparable between both groups. More PW had chest tube drainage more than 500 cc/ 24 hours (40 (20%) vs. 5 (2.5%), respectively; p=0.005). cc/24 or mediastinal lower (10 (5%) 40 groups, p<0.001). Early collection occurred 6 (3%) 46 (23%) (p<0.001), no patient late effusion 26 (13%) (p< 0.001). Six atrial fibrillation 12 (6%) (p= 0.23). Pulmonary complications nonsignificantly higher (Lung collapse: (13%); p=0.08 effusion: 34 (17%) p= 0.3, respectively).
Conclusion: Posterior pericardiotomy simple could effusion, fibrillation, tamponade. increase compared standard method.

Delayed pericardial effusion with tamponade after cardiac surgery.
Seven cases of delayed pericardial effusion with tamponade in children have been reported previously, all following the Wattrston operation. Three cases are now described in which delayed pericardial effusion developed three weeks after operation, following procedures other than the Waterston operation. Two of our cases, and two of the reported cases, died because the possibility of delayed per...

conclusions: pe may be developed as late as weeks after cardiac surgeries. pe after palliative cardiac surgeries is not uncommon. low doses of aspirin and corticosteroids are usually effective for treating this complication. objectives: our aim was to assess the prevalence, risk factors, time course and therapy response of pericardial effusion (pe) after cardiac surgeries in children. patients ...
متن کاملA case of biventricular failure after pericardial window for large pericardial effusion.
Pericardial tamponade resulting in hemodynamic compromise requiring either pericardiocentesis [Vandyke 1983] or subxiphoid pericardial window has been reported in literature [Armstrong 1984]. There are no large case series, only scattered case reports. Cardiac tamponade is known to affect the diastolic function of the heart but rare reports have documented systolic impairment of the left and ri...
متن کاملThoracoscopic creation of a pericardial window for recurrent pericardial effusion after heart transplantation.
A 56-year-old man underwent orthotopic heart transplantation (Htx) for dilative cardiomyopathy. The postoperative course was uneventful despite the appearance of pericardial effusions during the first 6 months, which required repeated drainage therapy. Six months postoperatively a pericardial window was created using a thoracoscopic approach via the right pleural cavity. The course after this i...
متن کاملComparison of the prevalence of pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade after cardiac surgery with and without chest tube suction in patients referred to Chamran hospital, Isfahan
Background: Pericardial effusion is one of the most important complications of cardiac surgeries. Administration of a low-power suction to the mediastinal or pleural chest tube of patients helps better and constant drainage of pericardial or pleural secretions after surgeries. This technique might change the secretion and discharges of patients and might change the outcomes of surgeries. Metho...
